Tata Play Binge, an Indian channels aggregator, will be adding Apple TV+ to its platform. This is the first collaboration of its kind for Apple TV+ in India. Users will now have access to popular series and films such as ‘Ted Lasso,’ ‘Shrinking,’ ‘Silo,’ ‘Hijack,’ ‘Foundation,’ ‘Tehran,’ ‘The Morning Show,’ and ‘CODA’ on the platform. To promote the launch, a campaign featuring Bollywood couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan has been initiated. Tata Play Binge is known as India’s largest OTT aggregator platform, providing access to 27 national, regional, and international apps in 13 different languages, including Disney+Hotstar, ZEE5, SonyLIV, Jio Cinema, and Hallmark.
According to reports, Apple Original Films will also debut on Apple TV+, featuring movies like Martin Scorsese’s ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ and a spy thriller called ‘Argylle.’ Ridley Scott’s ‘Napoleon’ and Joseph Kosinski’s untitled Formula One racing feature starring Brad Pitt will also premiere on the platform.
Streaming platforms in India are competing for the attention of the tech-savvy population. Reliance Jio Infocomm, the telecom arm of Reliance Industries, recently launched Netflix subscriptions on prepaid plans, reaching 400 million customers. Reliance has also partnered with Warner Bros Discovery Inc., bringing Warner Bros and HBO content to Reliance’s JioCinema app. In an attempt to compete with global rivals like Netflix and Disney, Reliance introduced premium pricing for its content.
Lastly, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance has committed $25 billion to launch 5G in India.
