The Co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Asif Ali Zardari, has stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has a responsibility to hold elections and carry out delimitation of constituencies following the census results. Zardari expressed trust in the ECP’s chief election commissioner and its members. He also urged the government to quickly implement projects through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to promote national development. The ECP recently announced that it would not be able to hold elections this year due to the need for more time to complete the redrawing of electoral district boundaries. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari also called for elections within the constitutional limit of 90 days, citing the challenges of inflation, unemployment, and poverty that the country is facing. The PPP is focused on addressing these challenges rather than seeking political enemies. These remarks come during a time of economic problems in Pakistan, including high inflation, increasing unemployment, and widespread poverty.
