PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has stated that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) must conduct the delimitation of constituencies based on the census results and follow the Constitution when holding elections. This statement followed party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s call for timely elections within the constitutional timeframe. However, the ECP has ruled out elections this year, citing the notification of the new digital census results and the Elections Act. Zardari expressed trust in the ECP and emphasized the urgency for the caretaker government to execute Special Investment Facilitation Council projects for national development. He also urged political parties to prioritize the economy over politics. Recently, resolutions demanding timely elections were adopted at a lawyers’ convention, and the Pakistan Bar Council passed a resolution urging the President to announce a date for the upcoming elections.
