Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s judicial remand has been extended until September 13 in the cipher case. Imran Khan has been imprisoned since August 5 in Attock Jail after his arrest in the Toshakhana case. The trial is being held in Attock Jail due to security concerns. The cipher case is about the alleged misuse of diplomatic information, which Imran Khan claims was an attempt to remove his government. The Islamabad High Court suspended Imran Khan’s conviction and three-year sentence in the Toshakhana case. However, a special court ordered that Imran Khan remain in “judicial lockup” and be produced before the court today (August 30) regarding the cipher case. In the cipher case, Imran Khan and PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi have been charged under the Official Secrets Act for allegedly sharing classified information with unauthorized individuals. Shah Mahmood Qureshi has also been arrested in the same case.
