The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will announce its decision on Tuesday regarding Imran Khan’s request to suspend his conviction in the Toshakhana case. Imran Khan is currently in Attock jail. On Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) lawyer argued against the suspension of Imran’s jail sentence and asked for a notice to be issued to the State. The IHC will announce its verdict after hearing the arguments. On August 5, Imran was arrested after being found guilty in the Toshakhana case and sentenced to three years in prison. In his petitions, Imran expressed dissatisfaction with the court’s order and claimed that it was not sustainable. He also claimed that he was not given a proper opportunity to be heard. Last year, the ECP had disqualified Imran from parliamentary membership for filing false and incorrect declarations. The Toshakhana is a department that stores gifts given to government officials. Lawmakers filed a reference against Imran alleging that he did not disclose details about the gifts he received from the Toshakhana.
