Several churches in the Jaranwala district of Faisalabad were vandalized due to accusations of blasphemy. The Punjab Inspector General of Police, Dr Usman Anwar, stated that the narrow lanes of the area contained small churches, and the main church was also damaged. The police are currently negotiating with the protesters and have cordoned off the area. The assistant commissioner, who is a member of the Christian community, has been evacuated for their safety. Efforts are being made to contain the situation through engagement with peace committees, and the police across the province have been activated. In the midst of this, the President Bishop of the Church of Pakistan, Azad Marshall, reported that Bibles were desecrated and Christians were falsely accused of violating the Holy Quran, leading to torture and harassment. Bishop Marshall demanded justice and immediate action from law enforcement. He expressed deep distress on behalf of all priests, bishops, and laypeople, calling for intervention to ensure the safety and value of all citizens. Further updates on the situation are expected.
