First National Bank (FNB) has been ranked as the most valuable brand in South Africa, according to a report by Kantar, a consumer research agency. FNB had a brand value of $3.4 billion, while Standard Bank came in second place with $3 billion. Other local banks, such as Absa and Capitec, also made it to the top ten list. Beyond banks, Castle beer and Nando’s chicken also featured on the list. The report drew on the opinions of over 42,000 respondents and covered 844 brands and 56 categories. To be eligible for the ranking, brands had to be originally created in South Africa and meet certain criteria. FNB was praised for its ability to reinvent itself and stay innovative, with its technology-driven approach setting it apart from competitors. Overall, the top 30 most valuable brands in South Africa had a combined value of $31.6 billion.
