The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, and the Leader of the Opposition, Rana Ansar, had a meeting to discuss the appointment of a caretaker Chief Minister for the province. However, no names were suggested by either side during the meeting. CM Shah expressed hope that a consensus will be reached soon. Rana Ansar also did not share any names during a separate media talk. The MQM-P party stated that they will provide their names for the caretaker position only after the PPP party makes their nominations. The process for appointing a caretaker CM involves the outgoing chief minister providing three names and seeking suggestions from the opposition leader within 48 hours. If an agreement cannot be reached, a committee of six members will be formed to select a name. If that fails, the Election Commission of Pakistan will make the final decision. Possible candidates for the caretaker CM position include Syed Mumtaz Shah, Maqbool Baqar, Mubeen Jumani, Shoaib Siddiqui, Yunus Dhaga, Dr Safdar Abbasi, Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Fazalullah Qureshi, Mukhtiar Ahmed, and Hussain Haroon. The PPP and MQM-P parties have been in conflict since the local bodies polls, with the GDA potentially playing a role in the decision.
