Today is the fourth anniversary of India’s annexation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), a region that belongs to the Kashmiri people. The past four years have been marked by severe human rights abuses, including changes to the population demographics, the issuance of fake domiciles, internet shutdowns, and a complete blackout of information. Additionally, Kashmiri leaders have been imprisoned.
India’s goal with these illegal actions is to change the internationally recognized status of IIOJK and deny the Kashmiri people their right to self-determination. Pakistan strongly condemns these actions and promises to continue supporting the Kashmiri people diplomatically, morally, and politically in their just struggle. We urge India to reverse its actions since history has shown that using force to suppress freedom and rights is unsuccessful.
