LG has announced the price and release date for its 97-inch Signature OLED M TV, which features a “Zero Connect Box” that allows for wireless content streaming. The TV only requires a single power cord, with all other devices such as set-top boxes and gaming consoles connecting to the Zero Connect Box, which transmits the content wirelessly to the TV at up to 4K 120Hz. The 97-inch model will be available in the UK from September for £27,999.99, and will be accompanied by 83-inch and 77-inch models with the same wireless technology. US pricing and availability is yet to be announced. While LG promotes the TV as the “world’s first wireless OLED TV,” some argue that the presence of a power cord undermines this claim. Nevertheless, LG’s Zero Connect Box offers three HDMI 2.1 ports, allowing for a wireless experience up to 30 feet away from the TV without the need for a cabinet directly beneath the screen. The TV also supports Dolby Atmos audio, Dolby Vision HDR, and has G-Sync for variable refresh rates. It remains to be seen how the wireless connectivity affects latency and input lag.
