The Information Minister, Marriyum Aurangzeb, clarified that the current government and its allies have not yet decided on the date for the dissolution of the National Assembly. She stated that the date will be determined in consultation with the PDM (Pakistan Democratic Movement) and other allied parties. This statement came in response to media reports claiming that the two largest parties in the ruling alliance, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), had decided to dissolve the National Assembly on August 8, a few days before its term ends on August 12. Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized that an official announcement regarding the dissolution date of the National Assembly will be made later. On Sunday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif hinted that the government would step down before the completion of its term next month, creating uncertainty about the tenure of the National Assembly. He made this statement while addressing a laptop distribution ceremony at the Government College Women’s University in Sialkot.
