An Islamabad trial court has dismissed a request from the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to allow five witnesses to testify against Imran Khan, the Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party. The witnesses were due to testify in relation to a criminal complaint about Imran Khan concealing details of gifts received from the Toshakana. The court accepted objections raised by Imran Khan’s lawyer and adjourned the hearing until tomorrow. The court had previously adjourned the hearing due to Imran Khan’s lawyer being busy at another court. The ECP lawyer had requested time to present arguments on the inclusion of more witnesses, and the judge warned that he would announce a verdict if arguments were not made.
