Haji Gulbar Khan, a former member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has been elected as the chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan. He received 19 out of 20 votes in the election. Three other candidates boycotted the election. Haji Gulbar previously served as the health minister in the PTI government. He replaces Khalid Khurshid Khan, who was disqualified by the Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Court for obtaining a license from the GB Bar Council with a fake degree. Khurshid became the chief minister in December 2020 after winning the election in GBLA-13 constituency.
