PETALING JAYA: Malaysian citizens were among the 2,714 victims of a syndicate involved in job fraud, forced labor, and wrongful detention. They were rescued during a raid on the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) by the Philippine police. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Malaysian Embassy in Manila, is currently identifying and verifying the status of 134 potential Malaysian victims in the operation. The Philippine authorities raided the Xinchuang Network Technology Inc. and successfully rescued victims from various countries, including Malaysia. The Malaysian victims will undergo investigation, documentation, and deportation back to Malaysia soon. Wisma Putra, Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, assured that any updated information on this matter will be communicated in due course.
