The Japanese government has warned that the global economy is facing a “crisis of division” due to the intensifying U.S.-China technology war. They stated that a severe economic decoupling between democratic and autocratic states would harm both sides. The government emphasized the importance of rebuilding a rules-based trade order, developing resilient supply chains, and strengthening cooperation with developing and emerging countries to restore confidence in the global economy.

In other news, Japan’s ruling parties have agreed to cooperate in all constituencies except Tokyo for the upcoming general election to avoid further friction that could threaten their alliance. The decision came after disagreements over candidate selection in a newly established electoral district in Tokyo.
