A woman died and around twelve other women were injured in a stampede at the Karachi Port Trust Ground during the distribution of funds for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). The police surgeon confirmed the death, and the injured women were taken to the Civil Hospital and are now in a stable condition. Approximately 2,000 to 3,000 women had gathered to collect the funds, and it is believed that the large number of women entering the grounds caused the stampede. The police officer expressed regret that there was only one BISP center for the whole Keamari district, and women from various areas had come to collect the funds. The situation was brought under control by the police officials and the district administration. The disbursement of funds had resumed after a two-day break due to the extreme heat. Payments will continue until Wednesday and then restart on July 3 after Eidul Azha.
