The Punjab government informed the Lahore High Court that efforts were underway to locate anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan, who has been missing since his arrest on May 11. The police had arrested Khan from Sialkot airport during protests after the detention of PTI chairman Imran Khan. While the government later withdrew the detention orders, Khan’s whereabouts have remained unknown. At a previous hearing, phone numbers traced back to Afghanistan were found to be linked with the case. A special working group of the Punjab police met to review the progress of all police units, including Counter Terrorism Department, for Khan’s recovery. The group was also in touch with the Defence Ministry for information. The advocate general said that there was no doubt that Khan was a renowned journalist and Imran Riaz’s father had been asked to become part of the special working group.
