Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is in Turkey to attend President Recip Tayyip Erdogan’s swearing-in ceremony, which is set to take place on Saturday. Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Ankara and was received by senior Turkish foreign ministry officials as well as Pakistan’s ambassador in Turkey. He is accompanied by a delegation, including the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb and Special Assistant to the PM Tariq Fatemi. During his two-day visit, the Prime Minister will also meet with Turkish investors and the business community. Erdogan won a historic runoff election last month to extend his two-decade rule for another five years in the midst of Turkey’s economic troubles. The inauguration in parliament will be followed by a lavish ceremony at his palace in Ankara attended by dozens of world leaders. Erdogan won 52.18% of the vote, while his secular rival Kemal Kilicdaroglu won 47.82%, according to official results.
