Engro Fertilizers, a major fertilizer, seeds, and pesticide manufacturer in Pakistan, has announced that it will shut down its Port Qasim plant for 26 days beginning on June 5, 2023. The plant produces “specialty fertilizers” and has an annual capacity of approximately 150 kilotons. The company claims that the closure aims to improve inventory and production management. Despite the temporary closure, the company intends to meet the demand for its products. Engro Fertilizers is a subsidiary of Engro Corporation. The company provides logistics services in addition to manufacturing, purchasing, marketing, and selling fertilizers, seeds, and pesticides. Last month, the company closed its base plant for unscheduled maintenance, but it has now resumed urea production. The duration of the shutdown was based on the extent of repairs required.
