Unleashing an ominous aura, Amazon unveils its newest creation – a video game based on the treacherous world of ‘Lord of the Rings.’

Amazon is developing an open-world video game based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s “Lord of the Rings” saga. The company has been carving out a space in the video game market with its own studio, a cloud gaming service called Luna, and the gaming-focused streaming platform Twitch. Amazon Games is working on a massively multiplayer online game (MMO) that will allow players to roam around virtual worlds and create their own adventures. The game is being developed in partnership with Embracer Group, which owns the rights to video game versions of Tolkien’s stories. Amazon did not confirm specifics of the game, such as the title or release date. Amazon Prime Video is also investing more than $1 billion in adapting the “Lord of the Rings” into a TV series. Amazon has already launched a successful open-world game called “New World” in 2021. Christoph Hartmann, Vice President of Amazon Games, said that bringing a fresh take on “The Lord of the Rings” has been an aspiration for the team.
