Eight Pakistani nationals have died and six more injured in a hotel fire in the Saudi Arabian city of Makkah. The country’s Foreign Office said it was in discussions with local authorities and in contact with victims’ families to provide relief. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his condolences and ordered the Ministry of Religious Affairs to provide medical help. In 2015, a hospital fire in southern Saudi Arabia killed 25 people and injured 107. The same year, 11 people were killed and 219 injured in a fire at a residential complex of oil giant Saudi Aramco employees. In 2019, five people were hurt in a fire at a new high-speed train station in Jeddah.
