The Sindh High Court in Pakistan has issued a notice to the country’s home secretary and inspector general of police over the detention of leaders and workers from the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf party. The detentions were carried out under the Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, and the court expressed doubts about the maintainability of the petition filed against the detentions. However, the court is due to hear several petitions on 29 May filed by relatives of detained workers. The PTI leaders and workers were arrested following the detention of former prime minister Imran Khan on 9 May.
