As life seemingly returns to normal in KP, more PTI activists have been apprehended in a nail-biting turn of events.

Police in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa arrested and booked hundreds of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and party workers on Friday for violence. The provincial police registered FIR cases under sections 302 and 324 of the Pakistan Penal Code and section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, as well as other laws. The charges accuse 29 activists, including former National and provincial assembly members, of murder, attempted murder, and terrorism. PTI chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s arrest triggered protests, during which party supporters blocked roads and damaged public property. The police claimed to have identified those involved in the violent protests via social media and surveillance camera videos. PTI Youth Wing president Mina Khan claimed that the police had raided her home seeking her whereabouts but had not arrested any members of her family. Raids continued across the province over the weekend as the police attempted to arrest those charged in the FIRs. PTI leaders called for detainees not to be sent outside the district or face further protests. Further arrests were threatened.
