Korean company Kakao Corp. has discussed building mobile infrastructure with officials from the Saudi Tourism Authority to boost tourism in Saudi Arabia. SA has identified Korea as one of its strategic partners under the “Saudi Vision 2030”, which seeks to develop high-value industries including culture and tourism. As part of the partnership, mobile payment system Kakao Pay could be offered to Saudi tourists, while the infrastructure of car-hailing and vehicle control systems could also be upgraded. The discussions also involved expanding cultural tourism through collaboration with Kakao Entertainment’s intellectual property projects. Kakao, one of Korea’s largest tech firms, is planning to improve IT infrastructure in the country and promote cultural exchange as part of the deal.
