At the Display Week trade show in Los Angeles, Samsung Display showcased two new panels. The Rollable Flex is a flexible screen that can unroll from 49mm to 254.4mm, allowing it to be a difficult-to-carry large-sized display that is portable. The size and resolution of the display are yet to be announced. The Sensor OLED Display, on the other hand, can recognise fingerprints anywhere on the screen, unlike modern phones that use in-display fingerprint sensors. It can measure a person’s heart rate, blood pressure and stress level by reading the OLED screen’s light as its reflection changes due to the “contraction and relaxation of the blood vessels inside the finger.” The Sensor OLED Display’s ability to measure health features normally found on smartwatches opens up possibilities for future smartphones. These panels are not available for direct consumer purchase, rather, they are available for other companies or Samsung divisions to purchase and incorporate into their products.
