The Pakistan Supreme Court is hearing a petition from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) challenging the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) earlier this week. The petition was initially returned but was accepted after concerns were addressed. Following Khan’s arrest, several other PTI leaders were also detained and cities erupted with violent protests, leading to Punjab police arresting over 1,000 individuals in connection. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described the protests as “unforgivable crimes” and warned that swift action would be taken against those who damaged public properties and state institutions.
