The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Thursday at 2pm challenging the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan. Imran was arrested by the NAB from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday in the Al-Qadir Trust case. PTI leaders Asad Umar, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry, Ali Zaidi, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, Falaknaz Chitrali, Musarrat Jamshed Cheema and Maleeka Bokhari were also arrested following Imran’s arrest, leading to violent protests in major cities. Over 1,000 people have been arrested in connection to the protests. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned that “state’s enemies” who are ransacking public properties and state installations will face strict action.
