Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan was arrested on corruption charges, resulting in clashes between police and PTI supporters in multiple cities. The arrest came after Khan repeatedly accused a senior military official of plotting his assassination. PTI supporters reacted with panic and violence, setting fire to buses and homes and throwing stones at police vehicles. There was a strong security presence in the capital and other affected areas. The National Accountability Bureau carried out the arrest in the Al Qadir Trust case while Khan was at the Islamabad High Court. The PTI is calling for protests in response to the arrest, threatening further unrest. The situation is being closely monitored for signs of escalation.
