Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) supporters clashed with police and set fire to public property in several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa following the arrest of party chairman Imran Khan in Islamabad. Internet and mobile services were suspended in the province due to the “law and order situation”. The PTI workers blocked major roads, including the Grand Trunk Road and the Peshawar-Karachi Highway, and attacked important military and government buildings. Swabi district reported street protests, and in Malakand, PTI workers set fire to the Swat Motorway toll plaza. The PTI workers demanded the immediate release of Imran Khan and warned they would march on Islamabad if this did not happen. Pakistani authorities imposed Section 144 thereby banning gatherings in all settled districts and tribal districts. No PTI leaders were arrested in the province.
