South Korean internet giant Naver will create a city-scale digital twin and a “super app” for Saudi Arabia under a new agreement with the Middle Eastern country’s Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, and the Ministry of Investment. Naver and its artificial intelligence and cloud affiliates Naver Labs and Naver Cloud will collaborate with the agencies as part of the nationwide digital transformation programme. Naver’s robotics and AI-enabled digital twin and city monitoring solution will be used for the city simulations while the app will be developed through the use of hyperscale artificial intelligence and cloud technology. The company joined the “One Team Korea” consortium in order to secure Saudi Arabian projects under the auspices of the Korean government. The signing ceremony for the agreement was held at Riyadh, and attended by Saudi Arabian ministers of investment and housing, and representatives from three Saudi government agencies related to artificial intelligence and data. Last February, Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing Minister Majed al-Hogail visited Naver’s second headquarters to explore the company’s technological prowess and mobile service planning and development capabilities.
