A vehicle in former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s convoy was involved in an accident while heading to Islamabad in connection with a hearing of the Toshakhana case. The case is related to Khan allegedly concealing details of gifts in his assets declarations. Despite bail in all his previous cases, Khan tweeted that the Pro-Democracy Movement government intends to arrest him. Khan, who survived an assassination attempt in November 2019, was accompanied by a convoy of his party workers and en route to Islamabad. Stringent security measures were put in place outside the judicial complex in Islamabad’s G-11, where he was expected to appear before the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Zafar Iqbal. A large contingent of police deployed to the area will provide security for Khan, who has skipped multiple previous hearings. The Toshakhana case adds to the former Prime Minister’s legal woes, which include cases regarding money laundering, corruption, and tax evasion. Curry lawyers have alleged that Prime Minister Khan is trying to silence any opposition to his government.
