Khan: Arrest warrant suspended for ex-Pakistan PM Imran Khan – Times of India

A warrant for the arrest of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been suspended by the Islamabad High Court. The warrant was issued following Khan’s failure to appear in court on allegations of not declaring gifts that he had received while in office, or the profits he had made from selling them. Khan, who has been campaigning for early elections, has been involved in a number of legal cases since being removed from office in a no-confidence vote last year. His failure to attend court led to clashes outside his home in Lahore between supporters and police. Supporters believe that the authorities want to ensure that he is imprisoned to prevent him from standing in any new elections, which must take place by October this year. The news came as Pakistan faces economic decline and escalating security threats, including a spate of attacks linked to the Pakistan Taliban.
