Islamabad court suspends non-bailable arrest warrants against Imran Khan in female judge threatening case – Times of India

An Islamabad court has suspended non-bailable arrest warrants against Pakistani politician Imran Khan in relation to a female judge threatening case. The ruling bars police from arresting Khan until 16 March. The arrest warrant was issued in relation to the use of threatening language against a woman judge and senior police officers, of which he was charged. Khan has also been subject to contempt of court proceedings by the Islamabad high court. In response, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman announced he will stage a “historic” public gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on 19 March as part of his ongoing election campaign, urging the public to support the “accountability of the thieves”. Khan’s lawyers challenged the non-bailable arrest warrant in the district and sessions court. A senior civil judge had instructed the police to present Khan before the court by 29 March.
