Pakistani police have filed a first information report (FIR) against Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, and several other party leaders, for allegedly attacking police officers outside the Federal Judicial Complex. The FIR claims that Khan and others violated section 144 and blocked the road for traffic, stole a 9mm pistol and radio, and also took eight anti-riot kits from police. The police claim that Khan’s supporters caused damage to vehicles used by the police during the incident, and that 52 law enforcement officials were injured. On the same day, law enforcers and PTI supporters used anti-riot gear against each other, with a series of non-bailable arrest warrants relating to the Toshakhana case issued against Khan being suspended. The incident marks the latest in a series of confrontations between the Pakistani government and PTI supporters protesting over alleged electoral fraud in 2013.
