A brigadier from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was killed during an encounter with “hardcore terrorists” in South Waziristan tribal district, according to the Pakistan Army. Brigadier Mustafa Kamal Burki was martyred while leading the encounter from the front, while seven others were injured. In another incident, three soldiers and three terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire in Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The law and order situation in Pakistan has worsened in recent months, with terror groups, particularly the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), conducting attacks with impunity across the country.
