Don't we see only muslims are being killed? Muslims of Pakistan should think over this matter seriously because a group of people including civilians and Army are involved in this baseless war on terror.

    Seven militants killed in Bajaur

KHAR: Seven more militants were killed on Tuesday in parts of Bajaur Agency, near the Afghan border, as security forces kept up their attempts to drive out the fighters from their hideouts.

The clashes between security forces and anti-militant tribal fighters on one hand and Afghanistan-based Pakistani militants took place in Batwar Khas, Chachagi, Kambeli, Tendo Dag and Kumbat areas of Salarzai tehsil. Both sides used heavy weapons.

Sources in the security forces claimed that seven militants were killed. Two volunteers of an anti-militant tribal group called Lashkar suffered injuries, according to locals.

They said militant infiltration from Kunar province of Afghanistan to Bajaur continued unabated.

Fresh groups of militants had replaced the tired ones, they said, adding that the stiff resistance being faced by the security forces and Lashkar indicated that militants were digging themselves in for a long fight.

The forces and the Lashkar have also not been able to seal the rugged terrain along the border, they said.

The militants frequently use secret routes to intrude into Bajaur from across the border.

Sources said jet fighters and helicopters had been unable to pin down the militants to their lairs in dense forests of Salarzai tehsil.

They said security forces would eventually regain control of the region and flush out the intruders if special commandoes were sent there, recalling a similar move in the Peuchar area of Swat during the military operation three years ago against militants loyal to Maulana Fazlullah.

MIGRATION: Migration of tribesmen from Batwar, Tendo Dag and Kumbat has not abated. A large number of people have vacated their houses and left the area in search of safety, sources said.

Bodies of 19 militants found in Salarzai

KHAR, Sept 9: The security forces on Sunday claimed to have recovered 19 bodies of militants during a search operation in areas along the border in Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur Agency.

All the militants active in the area had been pushed back into Afghanistan, they said.

Officials said the security forces and volunteers of Salarzai peace committee conducted a joint operation in the areas cleared of militants after receiving information that the fleeing militants had planted bombs and other explosives in different parts of the tehsil.

They said the bodies were recovered in twos or threes along the border. A huge quantity of weapons and explosives was also found.

They said that bomb disposal experts were taking part in the search operation while some areas had been cleared of planted explosives.

Local people said that dozens of houses in the border villages had been destroyed in the two-week fighting between the security forces and the militants.

Meanwhile, registration of the tribesmen displaced because of the law and order situation in the border areas of Salarzai continued for the second day.

According to local officials, over 2,000 affected families have been registered and the process is continuing. Distribution of food packages to the affected persons was also going on in various parts of the tehsil.

According to local administration, 800 more families have been provided the food packages.

Also, elders of Salarzai tribe on Sunday pledged to continue their fight against the militants and assured the administration of full support in eradication of militants from the region.

They held a grand jirga with the senior officials of the local administration and the security forces in Pasht area of Salarzai.

Notables of different sub-tribes, senior members of peace committee, Political Agent Syed Abdul Jabbar Shah and Commandant Bajaur Scouts Colonel Shakeel Janjua attended the jirga.

On the occasion Salarzai elders, including Malik Nizamudin Khan, Malik Mohammad Nawaz Khan and Malik Ziarat Gul, said the people of Salarzai tribe were committed to eliminating militancy.

Tehsil in Bajaur cleared of militants

KHAR, Sept 8: Security forces have regained control of Salarzai tehsil of Bajaur Agency as militants have fled Batwar and other areas along the border with Afghanistan, official sources said.

An official told Dawn on Saturday that security forces backed by the Salarzai Qaumi Lashkar pushed back the militants who had sneaked into several areas of Pakistan from Afghanistan’s Kunar province.

He said security forces fought against the Taliban for two weeks before the militants fled the areas.

“Although the militants gave us a tough time, finally we succeeded in our mission,” the official said, adding checkposts had been set up in the area that had been cleared of militants.

“Security along the border has been beefed up and several new posts have been set up. No one will be allowed to carry out such activities in Pakistani territory,” the official said.

Meanwhile, Tehrik-i-Tali-ban Pakistan confirmed that its fighters had vacated the Salarzai region of Bajaur Agency.

TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan told reporters from an undisclosed location that the Taliban had vacated the border areas in the larger interest of their movement.

“We have vacated the areas under a strategy and the fighters will soon come again to Salarzai tehsil,” he said, adding the next attack in the border areas would be stronger than the past ones.

Pakistani military says kills 29 Taliban near Afghan border

PESHAWAR: The Pakistani military said it killed 29 Taliban fighters on Wednesday in the final stage of an operation aimed at forcing hundreds of insurgents back across the border into Afghanistan.

Soldiers used artillery, helicopter gunships and fighter jets against the insurgents, accused of beheading 17 Pakistani soldiers in June.

The battle was the culmination of weeks of operations in the remote valleys of the Batwar area of Bajaur tribal agency near the border.

It highlighted once again the difficulty of preventing insurgents from crossing the border to launch attacks or flee from Pakistani or Nato forces bolstering the Afghan government.

Around 400 militants had crossed from Afghanistan into Pakistan on August 23 and attacked villages, said a senior security official based in Khar, the main town of Bajaur.

The army launched operations that killed around 120 militants, another security official said from the border town of Peshawar. Twenty-five soldiers also died in the fighting.

“The militants escaped to their sanctuaries in Afghanistan and even left the bodies of their slain fighters,” said the Peshawar-based official.

He said the armed forces were now establishing posts along that section of the Afghan border to thwart future incursions.

A spokesman for the militants confirmed the attacks were staged by fighters from several regions.

Pakistan and the United States, which has by far the largest foreign contingent in Afghanistan, have accused each other of failing to secure the border.

Some US officials say Pakistan deliberately lets some insurgents through, a suggestion Pakistan strongly rejects.

Joint efforts to secure the long and mountainous border were hampered by a Nato strike against a Pakistani base last November that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers and severely damaged relations between Pakistan and the United States for several months.

Security forces kill five militants in Orakzai

PESHAWAR: Five militants were killed and two injured when security forces bombarded the Barlas area of upper Orakzai Agency with gunship helicopters, DawnNews reported.

Three militant hideouts were also destroyed during the bombardment.

According to the security sources, 92 per cent of Orakzai Agency has been cleared of militants in the ongoing operation conducted by the security forces. However, they added that militants are still present in some areas of the tribal region.

In a separate incident in Mohmand Agency, unknown miscreants destroyed 66KW transmission lines with explosives in the Mian Mandi area of the Haleemzai district.

Due to the explosion, electric supply was cut off to Mohmand Agency’s Haleemzai district and the neighbouring Nawagai district of the Bajaur Agency.

Following the incident, the political administration in the agency has arrested six people from Mian Mandi in accordance with a local law in effect in Mohmand Agency.

Furthermore, four electric transmission poles collapsed due to strong winds in the Jamrud area of Khyber Agency. Due to this, Landi Kotal experienced a power breakdown for 48 hours, creating serious difficulties for the citizens.

Patients in hospitals experienced severe difficulties due to the breakdown in the power supply. Water supply in the area has also been hit, thus paralysing the routine life in the area. The citizens are protesting against the non-restoration of electric supply in the area.

14 militants killed in Orakzai Agency

At least 14 militants were killed and several others injured in operation by security forces’ in different areas of the Upper Orakzai Agency, officials said on Saturday.
According to the official sources, four hideouts of the terrorists were also destroyed in the crackdown.

The forces are advancing in the area. Orakzai is the only tribal agency of the country which does not border Afghanistan.

Security forces have been carrying out operations against militants in the Orakzai Agency although the military had earlier announced that the official operation in Orakzai was over and the area had been cleared of militants. However, recent attacks and activities by militants in the region have led to renewed operations by security forces.

This area has been witnessing the worst act of terrorism where hundreds of people have been killed. This area was also stronghold of militants groups including Pakistani Taliban but Pakistan Arm has wiped out these elements from the region after a bloody operation. However, militants use to target these areas to show their presence.
