    MQM and the Taliban

KARACHI: Addressing a solidarity rally via telephone Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain said that the Taliban are being used to destabilise Pakistan, Express News reported.
He added that four years ago his statements about the Taliban gaining influence were not taken seriously, but now he has been proven right.
He added that Pakistan’s peace and security are under threat, and it is important that measures be taken to safeguard the stability and security of the nation.
He singled out the Taliban and said that anyone who is in favour of the Taliban is against Pakistan.
MQM is hosting this rally to express their support for the armed forces, Rangers and other security agencies on Sunday in the port city of Karachi.
The rally is taking place at Shahra-e-Quaideen Road in Karachi, where a huge crowd including women and children have gathered.
MQM leaders Faisal Sabzwari, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and Haider Abbas Rizvi addressed the rally.
“This is not a procession of a misguided few, this is a procession of those who have woken up,” Faisal Sabzwari said.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN)’s Nihal Hashmi also addressed the procession.

MQM shows solidarity with armed forces

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday staged a large rally in Karachi to show its solidarity with the Pakistan Army and other law enforcing agencies, calling on them to take stern action against elements that challenge the writ of the government and stoke violence in the country.

“It is time to save Pakistan. The MQM and the whole nation stands united with the armed forces,” bellowed a charged MQM chief, Altaf Hussain.

Titled ‘Solidarity Rally with Defenders of Pakistan against Taliban,’ the rally was held at Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Quaideen. The first large public show of support for the military and law enforcement agencies, the rally comes amidst a breakdown of talks between the government and the Taliban after a number of high-profile attacks, including a suicide bombing on a police bus in Karachi and the murder of 23 FC personnel, diminished hopes of a ceasefire.

Calling on the armed forces to come forward and save the country from destruction, Altaf said that international forces were conspiring to weaken the country and those that supported the Taliban “are not Pakistan’s friends.” Commenting on the regional situation, MQM chief said that an effort was underway to reshape the boundaries of countries in the region. “American and Indian ties are improving and anti-Pakistan elements want a weak Pakistan, therefore the Taliban are being supported in this regard,” said Altaf.

With blaring patriotic songs, the venue of the rally was thronged by participants, including women and children, who were holding Pakistan’s flag and chanting slogans of ‘Pakistan Zindabad.’ Several children were seen donning police, rangers and army uniform, while women were dressed in green and white.

Holding placards and banners in support of the army, enthusiastic participants said that they had created Pakistan and would stand alongside the armed forces to save the country.

The MQM chief said that Taliban, created to counter the Soviet army, are now involved in heinous crimes against the people of Pakistan and refuse to accept its Constitution. He said that terrorists were enemies of the people of Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Appealing to all political parties and their supporters, the MQM chief said that the nation needs unity against terrorism. “Taliban’s friend is Pakistan’s traitor and we all have to join hands at this particular point,” he added.

Religious leaders, including Allama Abbas Kumeli, Maulana Tanveerul Haq Thanvi, and the Bishop of Karachi, Sadiq Deniel; along with political party members including PPP’s Najmi Alam, PML-N’s Nehal Hashmi, APML’s Asia Isaq and others also addressed the rally.
Supporting the call of the MQM, speakers said that they stood alongside the Pakistan army, rangers and police in their fight against the enemies of Pakistan.

An eight-point declaration was passed at the rally which announced that hundreds of thousands of people stand in solidarity with the armed forces. The declaration condemned terrorist attacks on mosques, schools, markets, worship places and law enforcement agencies. Terming such attacks un-Islamic, the declaration said that every citizen, including non-Muslims, has equal rights, including the right to build their sacred places of worship.

Held under strict security, all routes to the rally were blocked and participants were allowed inside the venue after snap checking. A heavy contingent of police and rangers was also deployed in the vicinity of the rally to provide security to the participants.

    Recognizing Solidarity

Meanwhile, appreciating the MQM’s solidarity rally, the Sindh police and rangers issued separate statements thanking participants for their public show of support. Thanking participants and the MQM leadership for taking to the streets in a show of support, the Sindh police in their statement said that they “promise not to let you (people) down before the terrorists and fight till the end of this war, and not hesitate in rendering any kind of sacrifice.”

Similarly, the rangers also appreciated the MQM for organising the mass rally, saying the rally showed sympathy for the armed forces.

Re: Taliban being used to destabilise Pakistan: Altaf Hussain

Altaf opts for takeover over state dissonance

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday offered his own prescription for purging the country of terrorism, saying the prime minister and the army chief must be on the same page. In case the civilian government and the military cannot come on the same page against terrorists, the MQM leader said he would ask the military to come forward and take over the country to establish the writ of the state.

In a statement issued by the MQM, Altaf said in a television interview that he didn’t support dictatorship neither was he calling for a military takeover. However, given the grave challenges faced by the country, he said, we will have to decide between saving the country and salvaging democracy.

He blamed the flawed policies of the past for the ongoing terrorism and lawlessness in the country. If the Taliban version of Sharia law is enforced, the very existence of the country would be jeopardised, he added.

Altaf said that the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, had never envisioned Pakistan as a theocratic state.

The Quaid-e-Azam had made it clear that in Pakistan followers of all faiths would be allowed to practice their religions freely, and religion would have no role in the affairs of the state.

The 1973 Constitution is in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah as was endorsed by leading religious scholars of that time, the MQM chief said. The constitution clearly states that nobody is allowed to impose his or her faith on others. If anybody does, it will be unconstitutional as well as against the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.

Altaf said that MQM is only party that emerged from the middle class. However, he lamented that several journalists, anchorpersons and columnists supported governments of the capitalists and feudal lords and opposed the party of the poor and the downtrodden.

The MQM chief called for setting up a ‘martyrs fund’ for helping the heirs of militarymen, policemen and paramilitary DC troops killed while fighting terrorists. He urged upon the affluent people to contribute generously to this fund.

Altaf Hussain is wrong about the army martyrs fund. That's one thing the army does well and that's look after its fallen men

Ending terrorism: Army should step in if govt fails, says Altaf

    KARACHI:

Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has once again said the army should step in if the government fails to come up with a clear policy against terrorism.
“If the government cannot announce a straightforward and clear-cut policy against terrorism, then in order to save the state, I would be forced to say that the army should takeover and get rid of the terrorists,” Altaf said while addressing a gathering held to mark the 27th Foundation Day of the party’s labour division on Friday.

The MQM chief expressed immense support for the army and law enforcement agencies, saying an entire institution cannot be blamed for the wrongdoing of a few officers.
On the other hand, Altaf demanded the government arrest the killers of two MQM workers from the Gulbahar sector who were gunned down on Friday. He said other MQM workers, particularly from the party’s labour division, had also been gunned down in the past.
The MQM chief also condemned the death of a man at the hands of Rangers officials in Karachi on Friday.

I must say, I don't normally agree with the man, but he is spot on with how we should be dealing with the terrorists (unlike the government and the other parties).

How interesting, Who is using The Talib and their message of Real True Islam, to destabilize Pakistan??? Is it the Pakistan Army who popularized the idea of Real true Islam in the first place?? Is it Political parties that share the ideology of the Talib? Exactly who is using the Talib to destabilize Pakistan?

One gets different answrrs to this question, some say it's the ever evil Indian and the ever stupid Afghan - but if the evil and the stupid have come together, how is it that they have been so successful?? But wait what of CIA, Mossad and the Martains? Do they not hate Pakistan as much as the Indian and the Afghan? Well? OK, sure those guys as well -- So if this was true, how come the Pakistani state did not challenge the ideology the Talib articulate for more than 35 years??

Truth is that Talib are a result of the Pakistani state's Islamization and the Pakistan Army's insistence of using non-state actors to promote "strategic" objectives - in other words, the truth is that Pakistan is a mess, destabilized, disoriented, due entirely to betrayal of the Quaid e Azam's Pakistan and it;s replacement by ideas the Pakistan Army imported, the ideas the Pakistani state indoctrinated it's citizens through education, through the distorting of history, through the butchering of culture and replacing it with ideology dressed up as religion, devoid of the idea of Faith in God.

Country must unite against terrorism: Altaf

LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Sunday said that the entire country has to unite on a common front to fight terrorism, DawnNews reported.

Speaking via telephone to the Sufiya-e-Kiram Conference organised by his party in Lahore, the MQM chief said that if terrorism is not tackled then the future of the country would be bleak.

He said that Pakistan was going through a very difficult period in its history.

"I want every person in Pakistan to be happy... I shed tears often seeing the state of the people," he said.

"We do not want the Sharia of people who blow up places of worship," Altaf Hussain said.

"What kind of Sharia allows the bombing of people who are offering their prayers," he said.

The MQM chief said that he alone has been raising a voice against terrorism.

He lamented that the country's leaders and politicians have not been able to face the problem head on.

"Correct decisions have to be made in order to improve the situation," he said.
