Re: Principal killed, four children wounded in grenade attack on Karachi school

    disgraceful shameful
    what else can you say
what kind of people we have got
I am not talking about killers, they are not killers they are devolved sub human and pests

I am talking about people who justify such fiends, very decent, well off and educated people who support and justify such killings and blame drone attacks and Lal Masjid over it.
how mentally and morally one has to be deficient to justify stone cold murder of innocent people from education over War on terror?

a lazy explanation for the apologists is that all what is happening is because of Gen Musharraf actions as if before that wolf and the lamb drank from the same spot and canals were full of milk and honey. Shias, Ahemdis, Christians and Hindus lives in peace and without fear.

so Gen Musharraf's actions have turned these ordinary puritan Muslims into @ssholes? or were they already @ssholes and just dropped their rhetoric and put their words into action?

disgraceful are those who are trolling the web taunting the grieving families , disrespecting the dead and celebrating the sectarian and religious terrorists. its high time that Pakistani law also aligns itself with the west and punishes the hate mongers and their fans who celebrate the death and destruction, normal laws shouldnt apply on them.

    Karachi News & Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chuadhry Nisar Ali Khan will visit Karachi on July 22 to get a grip on the security issues of the city, Express News reported on Sunday.

The tour comes after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif instructed him to look into the deteriorating law and order situation of the metropolis.

Nisar will be accompanied by other interior ministry officials and will be briefed by security forces about the situation in the city.

Express News reported that Nisar will assure Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah of the centre’s absolute support in tackling the city’s problem.

The interior minister had earlier said that he would not disappoint the people of Karachi if entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining law and order in the metropolitan city which has become a cauldron of sectarian, ethnic, political and militant violence.

    Violence

There was no respite from killings in the city during the first six months of the year 2013, as 1,728 casualties were reported in different incidents, according to a Human Rights Commission of Pakistan report.

Based on data from the past six months, the HRCP report declares June as the deadliest month of the year so far with 313 people killed. The highest number of political killings, which is 50, also took place in this month.

There has been an alarming increase in the crime rate as compared to the six-monthly figures of 2012, when over 1,200 people died. In 2011, the count was even lesser with 1,110 such tragedies.

Between January and June this year, most of the people that have been killed, which is 545, were those with no political affiliations, but were gunned down under the guise of target killings. On the other hand, out of the 174 activists killed, the highest number of workers, which is 104, belonged to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

No excuses for failure in Karachi: Chaudhry Nisar

KARACHI: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan in a press conference on Monday said that the provincial government, along with the federal government, should make arrangements for peace in Karachi, and that there were no excuses for failure, Express News reported.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that the main purpose of his visit to Karachi was the city’s extremely volatile security situation.

He said that he had met the Governor of Sindh, security agencies and the provincial government, who had briefed him about the prevailing situation in the city.

Khan said that he had discussed the situation in Karachi with the governor, the prime minister and their team in light of a report previously compiled by interior secretary and DG IB on an administrative visit to the city.

Karachi and its people did not deserve the violence currently prevailing in the city, not only because Karachi was the only metropolitan city in Pakistan, but also because a slight law and order situation in Karachi had an effect on the entire nation, he said.

The interior minister said that the federal government was willing to provide all intelligence and security reports to help the provincial government deal with the security threats.

Khan said that the purpose of his visit was not political, but the current condition of Karachi was worrisome for the entire country.

He said that the people had voted for both the provincial and the federal governments, and both did not have any excuse not to deliver.

He said the issue cannot be tackled by applying the traditional methods, and said that a roadmap will be prepared by taking into confidence all the stakeholders for bringing peace in the metropolitan city.

Khan said that the prime minister himself wished to visit Karachi to help solve the situation in Karachi.

    Meeting with Pir Pagara

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said that he had briefed Pir Pagara Syed Shah Mardan Shah II regarding the Pakistan Muslim League-N’s (PML-N) developments on the presidential elections scheduled to be held on August 6.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would give the final decision regarding its contender for the president within the next two or three days after taking Shah, and all other political parties, into consideration.

He also said that the government also planned to invite senior leaders of all political parties within the next two weeks to the prime minister’s house, the main purpose for which would be to address issues relating to terrorism and the law and order situation, and drone attacks in the country.

He said that Shah’s presence in the meeting would be highly welcomed.

    Karachi News & Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan Wednesday said that a non-political targeted operation will be carried out by civil armed forces to restore peace in Karachi and opposed demands of handing the city to Pakistan Army.

“There was no need for a full-scale military operation in Karachi as scores of target killers, extortionists and criminals have already been identified,” he said while addressing a news conference in Islamabad.

Next meeting of the federal cabinet will be held in Karachi on September 3, where blueprint of the proposed operation would be discussed, he added.

Chaudhry Nisar said Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and heads of intelligence and law enforcing agencies will be invited to attend the meeting.

Due to law and order being a provincial subject, the chief minister will have to act as captain of the team and all federal agencies and resources will be at his disposal to ensure success of the operation, he said.

The statement came after the Supreme Court, earlier in the day, had held law-enforcement authorities responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had summoned a special meeting of the federal cabinet to be attended by the Sindh governor and chief minister, and representatives of the law-enforcement agencies.

The interior minister also announced to form a monitoring committee, consisting of representatives of major political parties having presence in Karachi and known media and business figures, for transparency and fairness of the operation.

Civil armed forces and police will act against the culprits, said the interior minister, adding that, “once action is initiated no one would be spared irrespective of his/her political affiliation.”

Intelligence reports suggest majority of target killers, extortionists and criminals have political affiliations and situation in Karachi will only improve if we rise above party interests and political expediencies, said Chaudhry Nisar.

Commenting on the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s demand of handing over Karachi to Pakistan Army, the minister said he understands MQM's concerns. However, he added, handing over of the city to army would not be in interest of both the army and the people of Karachi.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader said the federal government will table a detailed plan before the cabinet meeting in Karachi; however, it was willing to modify it or replace it with a better one if reasonably proposed by the provincial government.

Special Cabinet session: Nisar briefs PM over Karachi situation

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan met with the prime minister on Monday and submitted a report detailing the law and order situation in Karachi, two days prior to a special cabinet meeting to be held on September 4.

Several matters regarding a strategy to restore peace in the port city were discussed during the meeting. According to sources, it was decided that the responsibility of a targeted operation against miscreants would be handed over to the Sindh government.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that the federal government would provide all necessary support to the provincial government of Sindh in order to effectively combat the violence in Karachi.

During an earlier statement, the interior minister had recommended a committee comprising of political and business leaders to oversee the operation to ensure its transparency. Sources said the premier also requested Nisar to submit a list of names of all the members of the committee.

So far, the final names of the committee members have not been revealed.

The special cabinet session was earlier scheduled to be held on Tuesday but has been postponed by one day.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq termed the next couple of days to be “amongst the most important in Karachi’s history”.

“The government, opposition and all other parties are coming together in the quest for peace,” he said.

The meeting, aimed at finding a solution to the deteriorating situation in the provincial capital, will be attended by the chief secretary, provincial chiefs of security as well as the directors general of Rangers, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB).

The parliamentary leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) in the National Assembly, Dr. Farooq Sattar, has also accepted an invitation to the special cabinet meeting.

He intends to support his party’s appeal for army’s deployment in Karachi for surgical operations in metropolis.

The Pakistan People’s Party led Sindh government has requested Islamabad to permit Information Minister, Sharjeel Inam Memon, to accompany Sindh Chief Minister to the meeting.

Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid had told reporters earlier on Sunday that the federal government would take all political parties on board over the peace strategy for Karachi.

However, at least two parties complained of not being invited to the meeting.

A spokesman for the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) said, “perhaps only those parties have been invited who are responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi.”

Senior ANP Leader, Bashir Jan, had something similar to say regarding the meeting scheduled for Wednesday. He said that the ANP, which has apparently also not been invited to the session, were doubtful of the government’s seriousness about bringing normality to Karachi, due to its “selective” approach.

Centre, Sindh agree to continue operation in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: The centre and the Sindh government agreed on Saturday to continue the targeted operation against terrorists, target killers and other criminals in Karachi.

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah discussed on phone the law and order situation following the murder of a deputy superintendent of police earlier in the day.

According to an official, the two leaders expressed satisfaction over an “effective coordination and cooperation between Rangers and police” and agreed to take steps to make the operation more efficient.

PPI adds: The chief minister told a delegation of members of the Punjab Assembly, led by Deputy Speaker Sardar Sher Ali Gorchani, that the operation would be followed by an “effective strategy” to root out criminals.

He said his government was quite serious in converting Karachi into a peaceful and economically viable city.

The delegation appreciated efforts and timely action of the Sindh government against criminals and for bringing normality to the city.

Qaim Ali Shah said the operation had been initiated without discrimination.

Rangers and police, he said, had been given a free hand to take action against criminals and they had been directed not to spare any person even belonging to the ruling party if he/she was involved in a crime.

Mr Shah said his government had neither interfered in the operation nor it would pull back the forces engaged in restoring law and order and protecting life and property of innocent people and businessmen.

He said because of the government’s policy of impartiality, good and encouraging results had been achieved.

The government, he said, was preparing a strategy to raise the strength of Sindh police, increase its mobility and give it effective training, equipment, latest arms and ammunition, incentives and legal protection.

He said new wings of Special Force would be created to combat criminals at any time on a permanent basis.

Members of the Punjab Assembly are on a visit to Sindh for a dialogue on legislation under the auspices of the Pakistan Institute of the Legislative Development and Transparency.

They said that it was high time to take up national issues with mutual understanding to make the country stronger.

They briefed the chief minister on the Metro Bus project of Lahore and other achievements of the Punjab government.
