Flying a few feet above the Arabian Sea, the two Mirage pilots are impressed by the awesome silhouette of the nuclear-powered Abraham Lincoln as the carrier looms gradually above the sea curvature, dead on the nose. The mission: To penetrate successfully the Carrier Task Force's early warning and perimeter defences and, to deliver a simulated Exocet guided missile attack on "the world's largest warship". The memorable sortie was flown during "Inspired Alert" - a Pakistan-US joint exercise. O.C. No. 8 Squadron, strictly following the ground rules, planned and led a simultaneous multidirectional attack profile against CVN-72, in an attempt to overload its defence. As two of the three Mirage pairs turned away, the lead Mirage carried out a simulated Exocet "launch" from several miles away, without meeting any of the ship's fighters. The Squadron Commander and his wingman later did a friendly fly by at the carrier's side, perhaps just as surprised as the Lincoln's crews, at the missed interception.

At 1705 hours on 6 September 65, 8 Peshawar-based F-86Fs of No. 19 Squadron led by Squadron Leader Sajjad Haider struck Pathankot airfield. With carefully positioned dives and selecting each individual aircraft in their protected pens for their strafing attacks, the strike elements completed a textbook operation against Pathankot. Wing Commander MG Tawab, flying one of the two Sabres as tied escorts overhead, counted 14 wrecks burning on the airfield. Among the aircraft destroyed on the ground were nearly all of the IAF’s Soviet supplied MiG-21s till then, none of which were seen again during the war.

Tied escorts consisted of Wing Commander M.G. Tawab and Flight Lieutenant Arshad Sami while the strike elements were led by Squadron Leader Sajjad Haider with Flight Lieutenants M. Akbar, Mazhar, Dilawar, Ghani Akbar and Flying Officers Arshad Chaudhry, Khalid Latif and Abbas Khattak in his formation.

    |History of PIA is a good source of vintage PAF pics and authentic research data. Many older staff of PIA are ex-PAF and have intimate knowledge of PAF.

    SNIPER was bought in 2007

Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control - Orlando, Orlando, Fla., is being awarded a $54,561,370 firm-fixed-price contract to provide for Sniper targeting pods in the amount of 22 each and associated support for foreign military sales requirements to Pakistan.

Sniper is the U.S. Air Force's advanced targeting pod (ATP). Its outstanding performance is the result of a superior optical bed design combined with advanced image processing algorithms.
I don't think LANTERN is in use with PAF as it is normally in use with High end air crafts of the rather rich Air forces.
But an alternative is there on JF-17 Thunder. The CAC chinese made WMD-7 Pod.

The plus point of using Chinese equipment for Pakistan is that Pakistan has full access to the Software of the equipment and make changes as they wish, and mate with a platform of their choice without fear of embargo or asking the chinese.
This facility is not available while using American equipment.Even batteries are to be changed under license form them or by them in USA.

Asghar Khan was under house arrest during General Zia's era due to him being president of political party and all political parties were banned in those days . His grand mansion was across the street from our school. Our football used to go into his Forest like compound and we never used to get it back, and nobody was allowed to knock on his gates as two armed FC men wont let you.

Hmm. Was these pods ever used in aerial warfare. I mean there was once a pretty informative article written at AIR INT regarding PAF about counter-terrorism ops.

Considering WMD-7 at the fields of reconnaissance/night bombing, how are they when compared to ASELPOD, LANTIRN and SNIPER

Can you post article link over here?

For counter insurgency star saphire FLIR is used. Its military grade equipment available as civilian murchendize without any threat of embargo and also cost effective.
As far as SNIPER , WMD-7 and such high end equipment is concerned,it is saved for more difficult and resource intensive missions.
